What date should you choose for your “RSVP by” date?

Sending wedding invitations is part of the process and gets you one step closer to your BIG DAY! Part of your wedding invitation is the RSVP, which is necessary to know how many guests are attending and the final headcount that you will then pass off to your vendors.

The question we get asked a lot is: what date do I ask guests to RSVP by? This can be tricky and it is not surprising that it stumps many couples, because at the end of the day, you want to make sure you have plenty of time to gather the final list of guests!

Common practice that we typically advise our couples is to pick a date that is 4 weeks before your wedding day. This gives you time to gather any late RSVPs and get those numbers to your vendors.

PRO TIP - We try to use the same date as the deadline of your hotel book date so that your guests need to respond and book their hotel by the same date.  The only reason you would need more than 4 weeks is if your seating chart is so intricate that you need more time.

You’ll find that most vendors want to touch base around 2 weeks before your wedding to finalize details, and caterers often want you to sign off on your final head count 1 week before the big day.
